Bus Reservation Line
(416) 201-4684

Phone by 8 p.m. Thursday
(Jan, Feb, Mar)

This season bus trips will start on Sunday, January 6 to the end of March depending on weather and attendance.  Bus fare is $25.00.  (Car Pooling may also occur before or after this time frame.)

The answering machine will take calls from Sunday evening until Thursday at 8:00 p.m.  Picking up many names and messages on Thursday evening can be a problem, so please call, if possible, earlier in the week.  Please speak clearly and slowly but do not pause, or the machine may cut you off.

Essential messages may also be added, when appropriate, such as:

§         convalescing, put me in a slow party

§         wish to ski with (name)

§         bringing a guest (name)

§         and we can ski at     level.

You may call in after the Thursday deadline, but you do risk getting turned away due to a full bus.  Late callers could find themselves skiing at other than their preferred level, as it may be impossible to make many changes to the groups at the last minute.

New Members - Please Note:

New members when phoning in for the first time should leave their name and telephone number and ask the trip organizer to call them to discuss the outing and to determine the appropriate group or ski level.  Please do this by Wednesday at the latest.  You will be asked:

§         how many years have you been skiing?

§         have you done any wilderness or off-trail skiing

§         what is your physical condition/stamina?

§         at what pace do you like to ski?

We do not normally recommend that beginners come on Five Winds outings, but we are planning two or three beginners’ days for the outings in January.  If you have not skied wilderness trails before, you should plan to go on at least one of these trips.

Shorter Outings

If you wish to ski ˝ day only leave a message and we shall try to accommodate you if possible.

Cross-Over

This term refers to skiing from the western part of our trails, usually the Car Park at the end of Muskoka Road #33 to the Nine Mile Lake Marina.  This  long 6 to 7 hour trip while not particularly difficult is suitable for fit and qualified skiers. It is  undertaken if snow and weather conditions are right.  On some  Sundays, you will hear this term on the answering machine and you may choose this option or a regular route.

Bus Transportation

We travel to and from our trails by chartered coach starting the first Sunday in January and ski as long as there is snow on the trails.  The bus is cancelled only if the weather is unfavourable in the ski area.
