The best way to dress for the trails is to dress in layers so clothes can easily be peeled off or added on as needed.


Top

bulletBase Layer Top - synthetic, wool or silk
bulletMid-Insulation Layer - fleece, light synthetic fill or wool sweater or jacket
bulletLight Wind Shell - windproof, water resistant for high aerobic work
bulletWeather Outer Layer - Goretex or other waterproof breathable jacket
bulletWarm Outer Jacket (for lunch stop) - down or synthetic or a combination of fleece and an outer layer
bulletToque - wool, fleece or synthetic
bulletFace Warmer - scarf, neck tube, balaclava
bulletGloves or mitts - bring an extra set as gloves/mitts become wet
bulletOvermitts - keeps gloves dry from wet snow


Bottom

bulletBase Layer Bottom - synthetic wool or silk
bulletMid-Insulation Layer - fleece or multi-purpose pants
bulletLight Wind Shell - windproof, water resistant for high aerobic work
bulletWeather Outer Layer - Goretex or other waterproof breathable pant
