The Bus

How do you get to the trails?

Early on Sunday mornings, our luxury coach travels up Yonge Street, picking up skiers and their gear at the designated stops along the way. At the end of the day it makes the reverse trip.

The coach has storage for skis and poles below and for packs and other personal gear in the overhead storage. It is equipped with a washroom.

What if I am running late in the morning?

Don’t be late for the bus! The bus always leaves the pickup locations on time. The departure times are noted with the pickup locations.

Can I bring children?

Children under the age of 18 are welcome but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Can I bring a dog?

No, dogs are not permitted on the bus.

Do you ever car pool?

Yes! If there is snow in December there will be a movement to organize people to car pool. As well, some people make individual arrangements to ski during the week. And at the end of the season a few die-hard skiers will continue to car pool to enjoy the last of the spring skiing.

How do I reserve a seat on the bus?

Call the bus line (416-201-4684) to reserve your seat. The ski organizers will pick up the messages. Let them know it is your first time and leave your number so someone can call you back. We want to find out about your experience and answer any questions you may have about what to expect on your first day and what you should bring with you.

Then, you should download and complete the membership application form. Complete the form and bring it with you on your first Sunday.

That’s all you have to do. We collect your form, your membership fee and the bus fare for that week on the bus.

How much does a ski day cost?

Our bus fare is calculated to cover the cost of the bus. We don’t try to make money. Sadly, buses costs keep going up. The bus fare for the 2012 season is $30.

Are there any other costs?

No! There are no other costs because we don’t stop to shop! You bring everything you need to eat and drink (and maybe a bit more).

What happens if I signed up for a bus and want to cancel later?

Just call the bus line before Friday at noon to have your name taken off the list for Sunday.
After Friday afternoon we charge a “no-show fee” of about half the price of the regular fare.

What happens if I decide at the last minute that I want to ski on Sunday?

Call the bus line (416-201-4684) to let the ski organizers know. If there is no space on the bus, the ski organizers will let you know. Chances are good that there is room for one more!

On your first time out we’d rather not get involved in last minute arrangements so don’t leave it to the last minute!

Is two hours on the bus too long?

We always have a coach quality bus so we have a comfortable ride and the time goes quickly. In the morning we have to finalize group arrangements, snack and catch up with friends or catch up on sleep or catch up on reading. On the way home we relax, perhaps even nap, read or visit.

Why do you have to leave so early?

In order to get in a good day of skiing we have to get up, get on the bus, get out of town and get to our trails. That’s what we do. You can sleep on the bus on the way up and you will certainly sleep well on Sunday night!

Can we leave extra clothing or food on the bus?

The bus is our club house. The driver keeps it secure and you can leave personal articles on board while you are skiing. If you are an energetic skier you may want to change into dry clothes after skiing to avoid getting chilled – your neighbours will appreciate it too!  You will also want some snacks and something to drink – your body needs hydration. (No, we are not licensed.)
