Reservation Procedures

TO RESERVE A SEAT ON THE BUS

This season bus trips to Five Winds trails will start on Sunday, January 8 to the end of March depending on weather and attendance.  Phone for information updates.

The answering machine will take calls from Sunday evening until Friday at noon.  Picking up many names and messages on Friday can be a problem, so please call, if possible, earlier in the week.  Please speak clearly and slowly but do not pause, or the machine may cut you off.

This gives the group organizers the time to collect participants’ names and arrange in groups. Also we need to know if there are enough people to warrant a bus. The bus company has to be contacted by noon on Friday to confirm the reservation.

When leaving a message - please indicate the following information, as appropriate:

  • Full Name and Contact phone
  • I am new to Five Winds
  • Wish to ski with (name)  
  • Bringing a guest (name) 
  • Ski at – a certain level or preference

You may call in after the Friday noon deadline, but you do risk getting turned away due to a full bus. Late callers could find themselves skiing at other than their preferred level, as it may be impossible to make many changes to the groups at the last minute. A $5.00 late fee applies.

New Members - Please Note:

When reserving for the first time new members should leave their name and telephone number and ask the trip organizer to call them to discuss the outing and to determine the appropriate group or ski level.  Please do this by Wednesday at the latest.  You will be asked:

  •  How many years have you been skiing?
  •  Have you done any wilderness or off-trail skiing?
  • What is your physical condition/stamina?
  •  At what pace do you like to ski?

Saturday Afternoon Confirmation

On rare occasions, the Club has found it necessary to cancel Sunday skiing due to extreme weather conditions (or change to car pooling).  We suggest that you call the answering service Saturday after 12 noon for an updated message (416-201-4684).

No Show Fees

The Club finds it necessary to charge a fee of $20.00 to those who cancel after Friday noon or who do not show up for the bus.  No-shows make it difficult for all involved in planning the day’s skiing and may deprive others of a seat on the bus.  If, after booking, you find that you cannot go skiing, please phone the answering service with your cancellation ASAP.
