Led by Amish Morrell and Diane Borsato, with hiking group leaders from Five Winds.

This exciting foray and hike at McCrae Lake will provide an opportunity to gather, identify, and learn more about wild mushrooms that grow in the Georgian Bay and Muskoka region. The foray will be led by OCAD University professor Amish Morrell, and artist and professor Diane Borsato. Diane is author of Mushrooming: The Joy of the Quiet Hunt and both Amish and Diane are editors of the book, Outdoor School: Contemporary Environmental Art. Participants will also get a chance to hike on wilderness trails along the edge of beautiful McCrae Lake and Georgian Bay. This is an activity of the Five Winds, with additional participants from OCAD University, including faculty, staff, and students interested in mycology, sustainability and climate change, and environmental art.

This is a full day in the great Muskoka wilderness using one of Five Winds' trails along McCrae Lake. We're getting there by coach bus and there will be a number of groups, with gatherings for interpretations by Diane and Amish. Note there is no chalet. and preregistration is required.

Please see below about what to bring. And note: The trails are not conducive to sandals or Crocs. Footwear should be at bare minimum good running shoes but it is highly recommended to wear hiking boots or trail shoes.
